Plates are photo-etched which allows us to reproduce absolutely anything at all; if we can draw it - we can etch it! The process means that we are not governed by the limitations of engraving machines and we ensure accuracy by creating artwork derived only from authentic, original plates.
Neither are we confined to British steam locos! Again, the process lends itself to the reproduction of any kind of plate to any design whatsoever.
Plates are produced individually on scale thickness of material - we do not ask you to accept compromise here. This applies in every scale.
We are happy to supply a full set of plates for a particular locomotive or just a single plate. There are no rules. See our contact page for the information we need.
Plates are supplied as perfect, clean etchings requiring final trimming and painting. (We have literature to guide you if required). Some plates are supplied fully finished, for example headboards with complex coats of arms and others where multi-coloured hand enamelling is required.
We have a vast quantity of artwork from which to draw reference but we add to it daily as requests for unusual plates come in. There is usually no artwork charge for simple substitution of numbers on, for example, builders' plates.
We have a wealth of historical information to hand and will try to help with research if required. For example, you might not be sure what plates a particular engine carried. Never be afraid to ask. We guarantee friendly advice and our closest attention.
Due to the nature of the product it is impossible to produce a price list but you can download a Model Engineers Price Guide here. The list may not show exactly the set you require but it will give you an idea of prices charged. It's always best to ask for a quote for your job. Our Process:
Every part of the process is performed in house. We start with a piece of artwork; therefore we
are able to create an etched plate to any design whatsoever. This is the beauty of our method
and a key part of the service we offer - and partly why we excel in the field of
authentic reproductions. Prior to computers all artwork was hand drawn,
photographed, developed and printed onto film. Now, however, we
create artwork using professional software but its origins are
still those hand drawn pieces of artwork.
